Ibec Submissions to regional Waste Management Plan consultations
The waste market in Ireland has developed over recent years in a manner that is not typical of other EU Member States. The setting out of clear waste policy and the provision of adequate waste management infrastructure and other options is important to the growth of the Irish economy, particularly where costs to waste producers and collectors, national waste processing self-sufficiency and environmental targets all interact. It is therefore vital that the new Regional Waste Management Plans (RWMPs) facilitate the timely development of such policy and infrastructure based waste management options. Ibec's identical submissions to the three waste management planning regions address these concerns, focusing on such issues as the provision of key infrastructure, waste exports, municipal waste collection practices, hazardous waste and producer responsibility.
