Ibec-FDI: Brexit – the exceptional case for state aid supports for the Irish food and drink sector
The potential for a disruptive Brexit and a fracture of the single market demands a series of unique exemptions from EU state aid rules for the Irish agri-food and drink sector, which stands to be significantly impacted by the UK's decision to withdraw from the EU. The paper sets out Ibec's case, calling on the Irish Government and the European Commission to put in place a comprehensive package of exceptional supports to protect viable businesses and jobs and to ensure that the Ireland's food and drink sector is best equipped to deal with a potentially fraught Brexit process.
