Labour Market and Skills Council

The Labour Market and Skills Council is Ibec’s senior standing committee on all labour market and skills issues. These include:
  • Education, skills and training,
  • Employee relations and industrial relations,
  • Employment law,
  • Labour market activation,
  • Social welfare,
  • Pay,
  • Pensions,
  • Diversity/equality,
  • Migration/mobility,
  • Social dialogue
  • European social affairs legislation

The Council acts as a board for the executive, overseeing the strategic direction of Ibec work on all of the above issues. It takes advice from specialist ad hoc working groups on issues of greater detail (e.g. pensions, collective bargaining, low pay commission, apprenticeships, STEM education, etc.)

The Council meets four times per year and is chaired by Anne Heraty, CEO, Cpl Resources plc and Ibec director. It includes representatives from all sectors of the economy.
