Transport Council

Our transport policy is formulated through Ibec’s Transport Council. The Council which is chaired by Declan McGrath, Renley and consists exclusively of Ibec members, represents both the users and providers of travel and transport infrastructure.

It is the national voice of business regarding all transport policy matters. The Ibec Transport Council has identified nine core areas for development:


  1. Continued road and rail improvements
  2. Public transport development
  3. Effective utilisation of airports for both passengers and freight
  4. Sustainable development of key seaport infrastructure
  5. Improvement of essential market access corridors
  6. Logistics and supply-chain optimisation
  7. National congestion reduction
  8. Advanced integration of spatial planning and transport infrastructure/systems
  9. Improved institutional arrangements and cross-departmental collaboration for policy delivery
