Union Customs Code
Description:
The Union Customs Code (UCC) is designed to simplify and modernise customs procedures in support of business and EU trade. The UCC will now provide the framework for the Implementing and Delegated Provisions.Implication(s):

The use of the latest information and communication technologies by customs officials within the EU is a key element in promoting trade and reducing costs, while at the same time improving the effectiveness of customs controls.Current Position:
Translation of the Union Customs Code and lawyer-linguist revisions are currently taking place. The formal adoption by the European Parliament and Council is expected in September 2013. The publication and application of empowering provisions will take place during October 2013. The new Union Custom Code will be applied on 1 May 2016 (30 months after entry into force).Contact:
